79-year-old cyclist identified as Ngakan died instantly on the road after getting hit by a semi-trailer truck in Marunda, North Jakarta, on Sunday.
North Jakarta Police traffic accident chief Adj. Comr. Sigit Purwanto said the incident took place on Jl. Sarang Bangau in Marunda. The truck driver, who allegedly fled the scene immediately after the incident, remains at large.
“The identity of the driver remains unknown,” Sigit said on Monday as quoted by kompas.com.
Ngakan was cycling in front of the Marunda community unit (RW) 05 office when the truck reportedly hit him from behind, Sigit said, adding that the victim suffered wounds and died instantly at the scene. (fac)
