MRT passengers are raising concerns that sticker lines meant to guide them on and off trains at least one station are already peeling off the floor only two weeks after the service began operating commercially.
ust two weeks after the start of the MRT's commercial operations, some yellow sticker lines glued to the floor of the Bundaran HI Station are peeling off.
The lines are supposed to guide passengers where to stand while waiting for the arriving MRT trains.
Some passengers have suggested to the city-owned MRT operator, PT MRT Jakarta, that the peeling line stickers should be replaced with something more durable.
"That is just sticker. I suggest [MRT Jakarta] paint the floor with yellow colors. That would last longer," an MRT passenger named Nirwan, 28, said on Wednesday.
Nirwan opined that the sticker glue was not strong enough, especially because the foot traffic across the station floor was heavy.
Another passenger named Intan, 32, suggested MRT Jakarta replace the stickers with yellow tiles for even more durability.
"[Better] use tiles [because] the probability for them to break is small. Also, they are more durable. Thus, they have no need to be replaced," she said as kompas.com reported.
She also said tiles would make the floor tidier and elegant.
The condition of the sticker lines attracted the attention of MRT passengers because of the perception it could cause them to slip and fall.
Many of the sticker lines at almost every boarding and disembarking position in the Bundaran HI Station were detached from the floor tiles. (sau)
