Haris Simamora is on trial for allegedly killing and robbing a family of four.
rosecutors have demanded the death sentence for Haris Simamora, also known as Harry Aris Sandigon, a man suspected of killing a family of four in Bekasi, West Java, in November last year.
Haris is charged under Article 340 and 363(1) of the Criminal Code (KUHP) for the premeditated murder and robbery of Diperum Nainggolan, 38, his wife Maya Boru Ambarita, 37, and their children Sarah Boru Nainggolan, 9, and Arya Nainggolan, 7.
"We demand that the court sentence Harry Aris Sandigon, also known as Haris and Ari, with the death penalty and keep the defendant in custody," prosecutor Fariz Rachman said at the Bekasi District Court on Monday, kompas.com reported.
He said that Haris' crimes could not be justified and deserved capital punishment, especially as two of his victims were minors.
The prosecutor said he could not find mitigating factors that could reduce Haris' sentence.
"The defendant's deeds were sadistic. He caused four people to lose their lives and belongings, two of them were still children, the 9-year-old Sarah and 7-year-old Arya," Fariz said.
He also urged judges to return the items Haris had taken – a Nissan Trail car and five mobile phones – to the victims’ living relatives, Doglas Nainggolan and Mangaratua Sidabutar.
