The government will facilitate a meeting between fuel distributor PT AKR Corporindo and Pertamina to help the publicly-listed company buy diesel fuel from the state-owned energy holding company.
So far, AKR imports its diesel; sourcing it from Pertamina would cost the company less money.
AKR is one of the country’s distributors of subsidized diesel fuel known under the brand Solar, which has been blended with 20 percent biofuel to create B20 biodiesel.
Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry Oil and Gas Director General Djoko Siswanto said AKR could get its Solar supply from Pertamina when the state-owned company was oversupplied.
“As long as Pertamina has excess supply [of Solar], [AKR] will buy from Pertamina. Why import fuel when domestic supply is still available?” he said.
Djoko further said AKR had asked the government to facilitate a meeting with Pertamina to find a solution. “We will facilitate the meeting,” he said.
