emocratic presidential candidate Joe Biden will support impeaching President Donald Trump unless he cooperates with congressional investigations into the Ukraine scandal and other controversies, Biden's campaign said Tuesday.

Biden, the leading contender to face Trump in the November 2020 presidential election, would be joining several other Democratic hopefuls who have urged the impeachment of Trump by the House of Representatives for alleged abuses of power -- a process which would lead to the president's trial in the Senate.

"He's going to make the point that Trump's latest abuses are on top of all of his prior abuses," Biden's campaign said.

A secret whistleblower complaint from a member of the US intelligence community reportedly alleges that Trump tied aid to Ukraine to the condition that Kiev investigates Biden and his son over the son's business ties to the Eastern European country.

Critics say Trump was illegally enlisting a foreign country to help his reelection bid by damaging his rival -- paralleling the allegation that Trump's campaign sought Russia's support in his 2016 election battle against Democrat Hillary Clinton.
