he Finance Ministry’s State Asset Management Agency (LMAN) has disbursed over 80 percent of a five-year land acquisition budget for nationally strategic projects (PSN) as the government marches on with its infrastructure development plans.

LMAN had disbursed Rp 80.17 trillion (US$5.60 billion) of the Rp 96.73 trillion budget as of July 23. The figure represents 82.9 percent of the agency’s 2016-2021 land acquisition budget.

“This is a very significant amount and it went to several sectors with the highest use in the toll road sector followed by water dams,” said LMAN president director Basuki Purwadi at a press conference on July 30.

He said the acquired land had been used to develop 1,145 km of new toll roads, one port and two dams, with the toll road sector absorbing the biggest portion of the budget at Rp 70.87 trillion.

LMAN’s disbursements embody the Joko “Jokowi” Widodo government’s commitment to resume infrastructure development programs this year despite the fiscal and technical restraints arising from the COVID-19 pandemic.

The government budgeted Rp 414 trillion for infrastructure projects this year, which is higher than the Rp 281 trillion budgeted for such projects last year.
