Yogyakarta’s Yats Colony reopens

A

boutique urban resort known as an arts and culture hub, Yats Colony announced its reopening on Wednesday. A statement released by the resort said that it will comply with the latest health and safety protocols, and it will only open 17 out of its 36 rooms to begin with.

Cofounder of Yats Colony, Ari Respati, said that he understood that many people still did not feel safe to travel, but he was surprised that his resort had received many reservations.

“We opened our system about a week ago, and […] in the next 10 days we are already expecting 50 percent occupancy,” said Ari, adding that during the first days of the opening, he and the resort staff would observe how the guests respond to the health and safety protocols.

“We keep looking for the new standard operational procedures in this so called ‘new-normal’, and even since before the pandemic hit, we have felt that there is always the need to renew SOP to adjust with changes of time,” Ari explained, adding that apart from imposing common health protocols including temperature checks and providing handwashing facilities, Yats Colony also provided designated storage for guests’ luggage where the luggage is disinfected.

Yats Colony closed its doors from April to June, but during that time, its marketing division –whose team worked from home- stayed active in digital platforms by inviting some acquaintances, including initiator of ArtJog Heri Pemad and jewelry designer Galuh Anindita, to share insights with Yats Colony followers on social media.
