The various hospitality and tourism players in Bali have been eager to resume operations after having almost reached a standstill due to the ongoing coronavirus outbreak.
lot of people in Indonesia, currently spending time in quarantine, have been yearning to travel again, at least domestically, and they are eyeing Bali as one of their dream destinations.
Likewise, the various hospitality and tourism players in Bali have been eager to resume operations after having almost reached a standstill due to the ongoing coronavirus outbreak.
Yet, a question remains: just how ready are tourism operators to reopen again amid the COVID-19 epidemic?
A recent virtual discussion organized by the Bali Hotels Association (BHA), hospitality and property consultancy company C9 Hotelworks, Delivering Asia Communications, as well as tourism and leisure consultancy company Horwarth HTL, addressed the complexity of this issue.
BHA government relations director Fransiska Handoko said Bali’s hospitality businesses were ready to reopen to buffer themselves from the adverse impacts that the pandemic has had on the tourist industry over the past few months, as they had already launched new health and hygiene protection protocols.
Yet, according to Fransiska, they are still awaiting a green light from the local government to proceed.
Fransiska also raised the possibility of turning Bali into a travel bubble targeting tourists from China, South Korea, Japan and Australia once the novel coronavirus had been contained on the island.
Sudamala Resorts director Emily Subrata said mulling these long-term recovery plans for the tourist industry was important to protect as many tourism professional’s jobs as it could.
