Joseph Lasiri aims to make defending champ Prajanchai mentally quit Joseph Lasiri promises a fast-paced matchup in a world title fight at ONE 157.

J

oseph “The Hurricane” Lasiri is set to challenge the ONE Strawweight Muay Thai world championship strap against Prajanchai PK Saenchai at ONE 157: Petchmorakot vs. Vienot on Friday.

The Italian striker is certain that he will come ahead in his matchup and will make the Thai defending champion quit his battle.

Despite facing an opponent of Prajanchai’s caliber, Lasiri has already fought his fair share of elite strikers and former champions in the ONE Circle.

The Italian fighter has faced off against Hiroki Akimoto, Sam-A Gaiyanghadao and Johnathan Haggerty, so he feels that he’s used to a high level of pressure.

“Everyone who practices Muay Thai knows who Prajanchai is; he has a unique and elegant [fighting] style. I’m a huge fan of his, but this time I have a big opportunity ahead of me,” Lasiri said.

“I won’t enter the Circle with my opponent in my mind. [Instead], I’ll focus on my goals and bringing something important home to the people who had helped me along the way.”

“The Hurricane” has made a reputation for himself on the global stage for his incredible tenacity and never-give-up attitude. Only a handful of fighters on the ONE roster can press forward amid heavy blows from their opponent.

Lasiri plans to use that tenacity and pressure to make his opponent struggle to keep up the pace and break him down in the course of the match.

“My focus will be to make Prajanchai quit mentally, I won’t [worry] about his boxing; instead, I’ll impose a super-high rhythm that even a champion like Prajanchai can’t bear,” Lasiri said.

“I want to bring a toe-to-toe fight, I want to impose a fast-paced match and I want to bring him out of his comfort zone. That’s my ultimate goal in this fight.”
