NE Championship just added even more heat to its grappling roster after the signing of three fierce competitors: Renato Canuto, Tainan Dalpra and Jessa Khan.
The Singapore-based promotion has put an emphasis on submission grappling over the last few months, and the inclusion of these athletes further affirms its commitment to bringing the sport to a global audience.
Below, we break down who ONE’s most recent signings are and why you should keep an eye on them.
Renato Canuto
It was only a matter of time before Renato Canuto was swooped up by ONE. The Checkmat athlete is a Brazilian grappling star whose father, Valdir Canuto, is also a noted jiu-jitero.
Canuto first began his journey in martial arts by practicing judo, but he made the switch to BJJ and earned his black belt from his father at the age of 20. The 26-year-old is a multiple-time IBJJF World Champion in both gi and no-gi and has won competitions all over the world.
Tainan Dalpra
Tainan Dalpra also grew up in Brazil, where he trains under brothers Guilherme and Rafael Mendes. Dalpra began training in BJJ at the tender age of five, and he earned his black belt in the sport in 2020 at just 18 years old.
Dalpra has won gold medals at the IBJJF World Championship, Pan American Championship, European Open and AJP Grand Slam – all in the same year. At only 22 years old, he holds a jaw-dropping 47-1 grappling record.

Jessa Khan
Another student of the Mendes brothers, Jessa Khan received her black belt just a few days before turning 19. The Cambodian-Mexican-American athlete began training when she was 12 years old and has defeated the likes of Danielle Kelly, who recently debuted on ONE’s global stage.
In addition to national tournaments, Khan has earned IBJJF gold medals worldwide, including at the European and Pan American Championships. She also represented Cambodia in jiu-jitsu at the Asian and Southeast Asian Games, winning first-place accolades for the country.
