wo of ONE Championship’s most dominant female athletes will get the long-awaited opportunity to settle their heated rivalry when they meet for the third time at ONE Fight Night 2: Xiong vs. Lee III on Oct. 1 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.
Reigning ONE Women’s Strawweight World Champion Xiong “The Panda” Jing Nan defends her World Title against atomweight queen Angela “Unstoppable” Lee, with the victor being able to put a cap on the series currently deadlocked at 1-1.
In their first meeting in March 2019, Lee moved up a weight class to challenge Xiong’s strawweight throne. “Unstoppable” looked the part at many points of the bout, but China’s first MMA World Champion made a dramatic turnaround in the fifth round to knock Lee out and retain the belt.
Then it was “The Panda’s” turn to move divisions.
She went down to atomweight to try and snatch Lee’s throne seven months later at ONE: CENTURY PART I. Once again, the action went to the final round, only for the divisional champion to secure victory. The Singaporean-American superstar sank in a rear-naked choke to earn the win with only 12 seconds to go.
Since their last meeting, both women have had incredible runs. Xiong has defended her title three times against Tiffany “No Chill” Teo, Michelle Nicolini, and Ayaka “Zombie” Miura. The strawweight champion engaged in ferocious brawls on each occasion and managed to snag the win by unanimous decision in all three bouts.
“Unstoppable” has been less active inside the Circle, given that she took time off to start a family. But she returned this past March at ONE X to successfully defend her atomweight gold when she submited Thai superstar Stamp Fairtex in the main event.
Both women will be hoping to go one up in this rivalry for the ages when they square off on Oct. 1.
Fans will not have to wait long to see ONE World Champions battle inside the Circle, however, as ONE 160: Ok vs. Lee II, the organization's upcoming event, will air live on NETVERSE, Vidio.com, Kaskus TV and MAXstream at 6:30 p.m. Western Indonesia Time (WIB) on Friday, Aug. 26.
The main card will follow on NETVERSE, Vidio.com, Kaskus TV and MAXstream at 7:30 p.m. WIB. Also, NET TV will air a same-day delay at 10:30 p.m. WIB.
