Three fighters Roberto Soldic could face in his ONE debut

T

he combat sports world has been abuzz lately after the news that surging mixed martial arts star Roberto "Robocop” Soldic has signed with ONE Championship.

The two-division MMA champion chose to fight in the Singapore-based promotion because of the higher level of competition.

And there is little doubt that he will have a long line of ONE’s top athletes waiting to welcome him to the Circle. And, because Robocop has held titles at middleweight and welterweight, his options are vast.

With a 20-3 MMA record and 17 knockouts, Soldic could very well usher in a new reign of dominance in ONE, but these three fighters would be more than willing to slow the hype train in his first visit to the Circle.

#1 Vitaly Bigdash

A difficult challenge straight out of the gate for the 27-year-old star would be Vitaly Bigdash. The former ONE Middleweight World Champion has taken on some of the most aggressive middleweights in the organization, and with five wins from eight outings, he has proven he can get the job done.

Soldic's boxing would be tested by Bigdash’s karate, which has caused problems for the likes of Aung La “The Burmese Python” N Sang and Yuki “Yu-King” Niimura in the past.

#2 Zebaztian Kadestam

Fans would undoubtedly enjoy a fight between Soldic and former ONE Welterweight World Champion Zebaztian Kadestam.

"The Bandit" has shared the Circle with solid competitors and scored multiple first-round victories, including against Valmir "Junior" Da Silva and most recently former ONE World Title challenger Iuri Lapicus at ONE Fight Night 1: Moraes vs. Johnson II.

The Swedish powerhouse has a 100 percent finishing rate in ONE and a merciless fighting style, meaning a meeting with Soldic would result in a war on the feet.

#3 Aung La N Sang

Myanmar legend Aung La N Sang has fought some of the biggest names in ONE across his nearly decade-long tenure with the promotion, and a match with Robocop would be one of his most exciting yet.

With 12 wins in the Circle, 10 of which have come by finish, the former ONE Middleweight and Light Heavyweight World Champion has proven time and time again he is a dangerous man.

Aung La N Sang is known for his submission skills, and this could cause problems for Soldic’s stand-and-bang style.

While we wait for news on Soldic’s ONE debut, make sure to catch all the action at ONE 161: Petchmorakot vs. Tawanchai on Thursday, Sept. 29, at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.
