Three keys to victory for John Lineker at ONE Fight Night 3 John Lineker

a href="https://thejakartapost.com/tag/one-championship" target="_blank">ONE Bantamweight World Champion John “Hands of Stone” Lineker makes his first world title defense in the main event of ONE Fight Night 3 this Saturday, Oct. 22, at the Axiata Arena in Kuala Lumpur.

Hands of Stone faces surging sensation and No.2-ranked contender Fabricio Andrade, who has amassed a perfect 5-0 slate in ONE and scored three first-round finishes.

Lineker won the bantamweight crown in stunning fashion when he knocked out longtime divisional king Bibiano Fernandes in the second round of their showdown at “ONE: LIGHTS OUT” this past March.

The Brazilian brawler remains undefeated inside the ONE Circle as well, and he has left a trail of destruction behind him thanks to his vast skill set. Here, we break down three keys that could lead him to victory when he steps into battle at “ONE Fight Night 3”.

Keep his hands ready

Lineker is dubbed Hands of Stone for a reason. He has earned 17 wins by knockout, thanks to his ruthless power.

He needed only one round to finish Troy “Pretty Boy” Worthen, dropping Pretty Boy with a right hand at “ONE on TNT III” in April 2021.

Andrade may own a 40-3 striking record, but he will need an iron chin to withstand the power behind Lineker’s fists.

Utilize his experience

The age gap between the two fighters is a relatively small but significant seven years. That said, Lineker has more than four times the experience in MMA, and he has beaten some of the biggest names in the sport, such as Kevin Belingon in addition to Fernandes.

Andrade, however, has certainly shown he is a dangerous threat in the Circle, but Lineker can count on tapping into his 46-fight record to get him out of almost any situation.

Work in his grappling

Lineker is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu brown belt, and though he has not needed to call upon his grappling skills too often to get the win, he has certainly displayed threat in that department.

His favorite techniques are the classic rear-naked choke and guillotine choke, which could pose a problem for Andrade, who prefers to keep his fights standing.

Catch the lead card of ONE Fight Night 3: Lineker vs. Andrade on Saturday, Oct. 22, on NETVERSE, Vidio.com, Kaskus TV and MAXstream at 7 a.m. WIB. The main card will follow on NETVERSE, Vidio.com, Kaskus TV and MAXstream at 9 a.m. WIB. Also, NET TV will air a same-day delay at 10:30 p.m. WIB.
