View all search resultsThe government is seeking to attract Rp 89.6 trillion (US$6.4 billion) in investment into three special economic zones (SEZ) in Java and Sulawesi as it aims to promote industrial and tourism development to stoke growth amid a cooling economy.
President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo signed Government Regulation No. 80/2019 on e-commerce on Nov. 25, requiring domestic and foreign e-commerce players from platform providers to merchants, to secure a business license.
The new regulations would open up sectors previously closed for foreign investors in by revising the negative investment list, streamline all business licenses under Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) and relax taxes for corporate income, expatriates, dividends – among others.
State-run flag carrier Garuda Indonesia’s aircraft maintenance unit, the Garuda Maintenance Facility, private airline giant Lion Air Group and Batam Aero Technik announced a joint venture to build a maintenance repair and overhaul facility in Batam to compete with neighboring Singapore.
