Clearly, the state visit also aims to promote business relationships between the two countries. There are, however, individuals in Indonesia who oppose the state visit, demanding that the Netherlands should first recognize Aug. 17, 1945, as the date Indonesia proclaimed its independence from its colonial rule.
All nations all over the world have recognized that Indonesia became a fully independent nation on Aug. 17, 1945. The Dutch will become a laughing stock if they stubbornly insist that their former colony freed itself from colonization on Dec. 27, 1949.
She was a happy girl aspiring to be a teacher when she decided to leave her home village. Thus began the story of a girl, about 20 years old, from Central Java who went to Bandung in West Java to work for a Dutch family.
