The Indonesian Textile Association (API) expects the IA-CEPA to raise the value of Indonesia’s annual textile export to Australia by 2 to 7 percent from the level before the trade deal, according to Rizal Tanzil Rakhman, the secretary-general of the association.
In a speech to Australian lawmakers delivered in Indonesian, Jokowi said that both sides should put more focus on collaborating in the Indo-Pacific region, especially after they had finalized the hotly anticipated Indonesia-Australia Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement.
Some may argue that this opportunity will boost Indonesia’s export to Australia. But, our recent discussions with some of Indonesia’s parliament members, owners of small/medium enterprises, and trade unions indicated that they are not aware of the benefits of IA-CEPA.
