Muslim leaders should remind adherents that making an Idul Adha sacrifice is not obligatory if the animals are not available or if one’s means do not allow it.
The Batam Cow and Goat Farmers and Traders Association has reported demand for a total of 3,160 cattle and 4,350 goats for the Idul Adha holiday – a third of which have been ordered by Singaporeans.
Millions of Muslims in Indonesia celebrated Idul Adha (Day of Sacrifice), which fell on Tuesday this year, under the government-imposed restrictions that dampened the day’s festivities. However, the curbs did not lessen the spirit of self-sacrifice that characterized the Islamic holy day.
