After several delays and a prolonged tug-of-war, the Gerindra Party and Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) submitted two names as recommendations for the next Jakarta deputy governor to Governor Anies Baswedan on Friday.
The Gerindra Party has said it was still doubtful about the capacity of two Jakarta deputy governor nominees endorsed by the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS), despite having approved them for the next phase of the selection process.
The two parties have agreed to submit the names of Agung Yulianto and Ahmad Syaikhu, both nominated by PKS, to Governor Anies Baswedan, who is to then ask the Jakarta Legislative Council to choose between the two.
