National Police chief Gen. Tito Karnavian has officially announced the extension of the Tinombala joint police-military operation, by three months until April this year, to root out what remains of the East Indonesia Mujahidin (MIT) terrorist group in Central Sulawesi.
Seven out of nine East Indonesia Mujahidin (MIT) terror group members, who are included on Operation Tinombala Taskforce’s most wanted list (DPO), are from Bima, West Nusa Tenggara, while the remaining two members are from Poso, Central Sulawesi, a top security official has said.
Operation Tinombala in fighting the East Indonesia Mujahidin (MIT) terror group will extend its operation by three months from the original ending date of Jan. 3 to ensure the complete elimination of the group and its power and influences, a top security official has said.
As terrorism is still regarded as one of the nation’s most pressing security issues, the National Police will continue Operation Tinombala to pursue the remaining members of the East Indonesia Mujahidin (MIT) in Poso, Central Sulawesi, next year.
Maj. Gen. Ganip Warsito, commander of the Military Area Command (Kodam) XIII/Merdeka in Manado, North Sulawesi, said the Indonesian Military (TNI) was ready to continuously support Operation Tinombala to search for remaining people of the East Indonesia Mujahidin (MIT) terror group previously led by terrorist Santoso.
