View all search resultsThe Jakarta governor has announced that the capital will be paying for the medical and funeral costs of Jakartans who were killed victim in the Sunda Strait tsunami that hit the Anyer coast in Banten province on Saturday evening.
PLN corporate communication head I Made Suprateka said 199 people – employees and family members – had gone to Tanjung Lesung in Pandeglang, Banten, to participate in an employee gathering at the beach. At least 27 of them had died, while another 13 were still missing as of 3 p.m. on Sunday.
The Tourism Crisis Center (TCC) will monitor the situation around the clock and gather information from disaster management authorities and tourism stakeholders in the area to provide information on the impact on tourism.
