Thirty medical and non-medical staff working for community health centers (Puskesmas) in Bogor city, West Java, have tested positive for COVID-19, forcing the local administration to temporarily shut down six Puskesmas in the city.
As the country’s hospitals are becoming increasingly overburdened by rising patient numbers and a shortage of protective gear, puskesmas are no longer playing second fiddle and have had to step up to the front lines – despite their limited availability of staff, equipment and facilities.
