n an effort to attract South Korean tourists, the Tourism Ministry will participate in the Hanatour International Travel Show (HITS) 2017 from June 8 to 11 at the Korea International Exhibition Center (KINTEX), Seoul.
“Our data shows that 338,671 South Korean tourists visited Indonesia in 2015, while the target for 2016 was 400,000. This year, the ministry is aiming to attract 514,000 tourists from South Korea,” the ministry's deputy minister for Overseas Promotion I Gde Pitana said.

Up to 50 countries are slated to participate in the exhibition.
“HITS is the biggest exhibition of its kind in South Korea and brings together buyers and sellers using business-to-business [B2B] and business-to-consumer [B2C] models. In 2016, HITS attracted 95,000 visitors during the four-day exhibition that featured 1,019 booths set up by 760 companies and tourism boards from 50 countries,” added the ministry's deputy assistant for Asia-Pacific Tourism Promotion, Vinsensius Jemadu.
Indonesia plans to bring nine tourism players to the exhibition to promote different kinds of Indonesian products and destinations.
“Our booth will feature traditional food and world famous Indonesian coffee. The Wonderful Indonesia team will wear carnival outfits designed by a local designer throughout the exhibition,” added Vinsensius. (kes)
