Nias Marine Festival 2017 features sports competitions, art performances

Nias in North Sumatra is hosting Nias Marine Festival 2017 on Dec. 1-4.
The festival is located at SOZIONA area and features water sports competitions, art and culture performances, culinary festival and other activities.
“There will be Kite Festival, 5K Run Competition, Nias Pulau Impian Vocal Group Competition and culinary festival,” said Nias Tourism Agency head Kharisman Halawa.
Visitors of this festival will get the opportunity to explore the Sömi, Bozihöna, Onolimbu, dan Nalawö (SOZIONA) area, which is known for its white sand beach, clear ocean water, beautiful coral reefs and fish. The beach is supported by five small islands and six diving spots.
“Nias Regional Administration has set SOZIONA as a strategic location where the economy will grow fast. The priority in this region is tourism and fisheries,” Kharisman added.
Additionally, Nias also has two popular surfing spots, namely The Point and Indicator. (kes)
