As the youngest province in Indonesia, North Kalimantan (Kaltara) has to work harder in order to keep up with other provinces.
Realizing this, Kaltara provincial administration is going to develop a Tourism Management Information System (Simpar).
The system, which will be developed in 2018 and can be accessed through Android and iOS smartphones, will feature information on tourist attractions, hotels, food and transportation available in Kaltara.
Travel agents, hotels, restaurants and travelers will be given an account on Simpar, where they can give the latest update on their own businesses to users.
But before that, they have to be trained first.
After the Simpar development, the tourism agency will invite bloggers for training. In the future, these bloggers can post their writings on Simpar.
Simpar adopts a two-way communication model in which users and operators can communicate with each other.
Moreover, Simpar will be connected to two Tourism Information Center (TIC) in Kaltara located in Juwata Airport in Tarakan and Tanah Kuning Beach, Bulungan. The latter TIC is currently being developed and will be available this year.
This year Kaltara is targeting to attract 262,000 tourists and next year the number will be increased by four percent.
Several tourist attractions that can be found in this province is Tarakan Mangrove and Bekantan Conservation Area (KKMB), Tanah Kuning Beach in Bulungan and Kayan Mentarang National Park in Malinau. (kes)
