he ongoing Sail Sabang 2017 event provides great exposure for marine tourism in Sabang, especially since one of its main activities is a freediving competition.
William Trubridge, a freediving athlete from New Zealand, said that he was mesmerized by the beauty of Balongan Bay, the location of the freediving competition.

The bay is 130 meters deep, meanwhile the world-record holder can descend up to 129 meters.
“Sabang has the best spots in the world; if you want to break a world record this is the place,” told Aceh Culture and Tourism Agency's marketing head Ramadhani.
Apart from freediving, Aceh also has at least 30 spots for diving such as Batee Tokong that is also home to sharks, Pantee Peunateung that has the depth of 30 meters and home to coral reefs, Arus Balee located in the middle of two small islands called Rubia and Seulako and is a great place for beginners, Batee Gla, Limbo Gapang, Sophime Rickmers and Sumur Tiga.
