tate forestry firm Perum Perhutani KPH Kedu Utara has announced its plan to close hiking trails on Mount Prau in Central Java from Jan. 5 to April 4.
Perhutani KPH Kedu Utara Central Java communications head Herman Sutrisno told kompas.com on Wednesday that the plan was part of an effort to revitalize the hiking trails to Mt. Prau’s base camps, as they had been used for nine months.
Herman said the closure would ensure that, once the trails reopen, the hikers would be safe and comfortable while climbing the mountain.
