ncol Dreamland Park invites the public to observe the rare supermoon phenomenon on Wednesday, Jan. 31. The natural phenomenon, which only occurs every 150 years, is seen as an educational event.

Ancol Dreamland Park's recreation director, Teuku Sahir Syahali said in a press release, “We are hosting the event in accordance with the Jakarta governor’s appeal to designate tourist locations as places to witness the supermoon phenomenon.”

KompasTravel reported that visitors will also receive an educational guide at the event prepared by Ancol's management. Baiturrahman mosque, which is located within the Ancol area, will also be prepared for Muslims who want to pray during the total eclipse. 

Those interested in watching the supermoon and eclipse in Ancol only need to pay for the entrance ticket at the main gate. Meanwhile, for KJP (Jakarta Smart Card) holders, entrance is free. 

Other places in Jakarta that will host the supermoon and total eclipse phenomenon include the Jakarta Planetarium observatory and the Kota Tua area. (asw)
