Set to be opened on June 6, Ahmad Yani International Airport has begun the final preparations for its new terminal.
ranch office of state owned airport operator PT Angkasa Pura (AP) I at Ahmad Yani International Airport in Semarang, Central Java, has started the final preparations prior to the operation of its new terminal on June 6.
Dubbed Operasi Boyong (Operation Relocation), the preparation was performed from Tuesday afternoon to Wednesday morning.
Some equipment from the existing terminal was moved to the new one, including Screening Checkpoint Two and waiting area facilities for passengers of domestic and international flights. Other items that have been moved include trolleys, computers, walk-through metal detectors, office tools and handheld metal detectors.

“Operasi Boyong will not disrupt the existing terminal’s operations as the relocation process will be focused in the evening, prior to the airport’s closing time,” said Faik Fahmi, AP I director, in a press release.
On Sunday, 100 airport employees had conducted simulations of the new terminal’s operation. “Hopefully, this final preparation will go well so that the new icon of people in Semarang and Central Java can be utilized by all Indonesians,” said Faik. (wir/wng)
