Luxury bus bookings on the rise ahead of Idul Fitri
The luxury buses depart from several points in Greater Jakarta and travel to Surakarta, Kudus, Jepara, Ponorogo, Blitar, Tulungagung, Surabaya, Malang and Madura Island.

head of the upcoming Idul Fitri holiday, the number of passengers using luxury buses has increased by up to 40 percent compared to previous months, luxury bus operator, PO Putera Mulya Sejahtera, claims.
“The demand for bus journeys has increased 30 to 40 percent compared to other days,” head of PO Putera Mulya Sejahtera, Kurnia Lesani Adnan, said on Monday as quoted by tempo.co. The number of bookings is also up 15 percent compared to last year, Sani added.
The days leading up to Idul Fitri are always the biggest traveling season of the year, as many people travel from Jakarta and other big cities to spend the holiday with their family in their hometowns.
Sani predicted that the increase in luxury bus travel was a result of the opening of the trans-Java toll road.
“After the toll road was opened there was an increase in the number of passengers, about 15-20 percent. Afterward, for the Idul Fitri season there is an increase of 30-40 percent,” said Sani.
Passengers pay Rp 400,000 (US$27.64) for executive class and Rp 550,000 for super executive class on luxury buses.

The luxury buses depart from several points in Greater Jakarta such as Kalideres in West Jakarta, Pondok Pinang in South Jakarta, Pulogebang in East Jakarta, Pondok Cabe and Ciputat in South Tangerang and Poris in Tangerang, both in Banten, as well as several points in Depok and Bogor in West Java. They travel to Surakarta, Kudus and Jepara in Central Java as well as Ponorogo, Blitar, Tulungagung, Surabaya, and Malang in East Java, and Madura Island.
Passengers can enjoy facilities such as reclining seats, hot water dispensers, coffee makers, smoking areas, clean toilets, pillows and blankets.
There is also audio-video on demand on board the buses to ease boredom during the long journeys. All of the buses are double-deckers with a total capacity of 44 seats. (gis/mut)
