ranmere Rovers, an English League Two soccer club partly owned by Santini Group, one of Indonesia’s leading conglomerates, welcomed members of the local Muslim community to its home ground Prenton Park for Idul Fitri mass prayers on the football field, on Friday.

Working in partnership with Wirral Deen Centre (WDC) Mosque and its community center, Tranmere Rovers became the second football club in the United Kingdom to host the Idul Fitri mass prayers on a football field, according to a statement published on Rovers’ website.

Meanwhile on Twitter, the club, which is also known as the Super White Army, said they were “proud to host Idul Fitri prayers for the local community”.

Ibrahim Syed, a community leader at WDC, said there were more than 700 people who joined the mass prayers.

"For myself, it just means so much to the whole community because, being born and brought up here, and I'm now nearly forty years old, just to really feel like you're part of the community of Tranmere Rovers […] including the Muslim community, just feels absolutely great,” he said in the statement.

"Special thanks to Tranmere Rovers; it just shows how much of a community club Tranmere Rovers is and that it's a truly inclusive club, and everybody's part of the Super White Army."

All who attended the event were given free Tranmere tickets for the final home match of the season against Northampton Town on May 8, according to Rovers.

Indonesia’s Santini Group, belonging to Wandi Wanandi, Lukito Wanandi and Paulus Wanandi, holds a stake in Rovers. Santini is a business umbrella with a collection of companies active in various business arenas including the automotive industry, real estate development and infrastructure.
