resident Joko "Jokowi" Widodo is expected to arrive in Chegdu, China, today for a bilateral talk with China's President Xi Jinping before visiting an assembly plant of electric vehicle (EV) maker BYD.
Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi confirmed details of the visit on Tuesday saying that Jokowi would begin his visit on July 27 and wrap up on July 28.
"The President will be in Chengdu and he will be there on the 27th and 28th. The main program would be a bilateral meeting with President Xi," Retno said.
This week's visit is the second in less than a year for Jokowi, who made a stopover in Beijing in July last year, part of his three-country trip to China, Japan and South Korea.
Separately, Coordinating Maritime Affairs and Investment Minister Luhut Pandjaitan said President Jokowi was scheduled to visit the assembly plant of EV manufacturer BYD.
"BYD has expressed interest in investing in Indonesia and on the 27th we will visit Chengdu during President Jokowi’s trip to China," Luhut told reporters on Tuesday.
Luhut himself is scheduled to meet with Tesla’s Elon Musk to follow up on the EV maker's investment in Indonesia.
