Indonesia is set to deploy a humanitarian mission operated by the Air Force to deliver much-needed aid to Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.

Twelve of them drowned trying to wade into the sea to get aid packages that went astray, according to the Hamas government and the Swiss-based Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor.

Francesca Albanese, the special rapporteur on human rights in the Palestinian territories, told the UN Human Rights Council that countries should impose an arms embargo and sanctions on Israel.

The Foreign Ministry has welcomed a United Nations Security Council resolution for a cease-fire in Gaza, calling on all parties to immediately implement what it described as a legally binding decision.

The resolution was adopted Monday after Israel's closest ally the United States abstained.

After the vote, United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres led calls for the resolution to be implemented.

As Israeli forces pressed on with a multi-day raid on the territory's biggest hospital, Hamas officials reported 19 deaths at an aid distribution point on the outskirts of Gaza City.

"Over the past day, the troops have eliminated terrorists and located weapons in the hospital area, while preventing harm to civilians, patients, medical teams, and medical equipment," the military said in a statement.

The move comes as Ottawa has only exported "non-lethal" shipments such as communications equipment to Israel since the deadly October 7 attacks by Hamas against Israel triggered a war in the Gaza Strip.

UNICEF Executive Director Catherine Russell did not provide a source for the child fatality figure during an interview with CBS News. 

The hospital ship KRI dr. Radjiman Wedyodiningrat arrives in Jakarta on Friday, completing its goodwill mission carrying humanitarian aid to El Arish Port in Egypt for Palestinians besieged by the Israeli military.

The non-governmental organisation said in a report that Israel continued to "systematically and deliberately block and undermine any meaningful international humanitarian response" in the Palestinian territory.

"No amount of international pressure will stop us from realising all the goals of the war: eliminating Hamas, releasing all our hostages and ensuring that Gaza will no longer pose a threat to Israel," Netanyahu told a cabinet meeting in a video released by his office.

An air strike hit the building where they were staying as women prepared the pre-fasting meal, killing 36 members of the family, witnesses told AFP on Saturday. 

Israel's retaliatory campaign has killed at least 31,490 people in Gaza, most of them women and children, according to the health ministry.
