ducating young families was important as they were the country's future, said a spokesperson of an event dedicated to families.

“We chose an educational theme for the Mother & Baby Fair this year because we want to educate young families in Indonesia, from the ways to teach children, maintaining health, shopping prudently and meticulously, to how to become the best parents for their child,” said Mother & Baby Indonesia magazine editor-in-chief Sandra Ratnasari in an official statement.

The annual event, which is held in three cities in Indonesia, namely Jakarta, Surabaya and Medan, is currently taking place at Balai Kartini in South Jakarta until Oct. 2.

In addition to selling mother and baby care products, the fair also features discussions about maintaining children’s health, the concept of learning while playing, and how to increase breast milk, as well as workshops, a photo competition, celebrity meet-and-greet and kids' performances. Prior to the event, a CSR program was held to educate three early-age education centers in Serang, Tangerang and Bogor.

Tickets for the fair are available at Rp 25,000 (US$1.92) on weekdays and Rp 35,000 on the weekend. (kes)
