he newly released Indonesian films, Hangout and Headshot, have been quite successful with both making their way onto the local box office chart, according to filmindonesia.or.id.

Directed by author and comedian Raditya Dika, the thriller and comedy movie Hangout is ranked ninth after successfully luring 804,183 viewers despite only being released on Friday, kompas.com reported. It narrates the story of nine famous people who are invited to an island by a mysterious figure. But the situation changes when one of them dies and they are apparently trapped on the island. While waiting to be rescued, they have to survive and search for the murderer as one by one they lose their lives. The film stars several of the country's famous local talents such Raditya Dika, Prilly Latuconsina, Gading Marten and Titi Kamal.

Following Hangout in the tenth place is Headshot, which follows a man (Iko Uwais) who suffers from amnesia. He meets a young doctor Ailin (Chelsea Islan) and is named “Ishmael”. Haunted by his past, Ishmael’s life changes when he encounters a gang of criminals led by Lee (Sunny Pang). Directed by Timo Tjahjanto and Kimo Stamboel, the action movie has attracted an audience of 684,767 since being released on Dec. 8. (wir/kes)
