he Manpower Ministry is joining forces with rock band Slank to develop a new job-seeking app ‘Join Kandidat.’ Scheduled to be launched in May, the platform aims to offer job-seekers a simpler way to find a job by providing information about the candidates to potential employers.
During his meeting with the band and CEO of ‘Join Kandidat’ Adisetya, Manpower Minister M. Hanif Dhakiri said that the ministry fully supported the platform as it facilitates Indonesian job-seekers, especially ones who have fewer skills.
Slank’s drummer Bimbim, who came to the meeting alongside vocalist Kaka and bassist Ivanka, said that the band was interested in developing the app to reduce the rate of unemployment in Indonesia. “[It’s because] some Slankers (the band’s fanbase) come from that group,” he said. Slank is also one of the shareholders of the platform.

Unlike other job-seeking platforms, ‘Join Kandidat’ may not require users to submit their CVs. There will be a personal information section where they can fill out a form about their background, types of job that they are searching for based on their skill, salary, location, experience and other related information. Furthermore, they do not need to attach traditional headshot photo as the app has its own ‘selfie’ feature.
‘Join Kandidat’ targets 750,000 users throughout 2017. Those who want to use the app will have to pay Rp 15,000 (US$1). (asw)
