ast week, Rihanna and footwear company Puma’s latest collaboration saw many netizens poking fun at the sky-high price of their recent line of jelly sandals, which are typically found around Asia for less than a dollar a pair.
And now, they aren’t the only ones being called out online for upselling seemingly cheap or ridiculous items of clothing.
Nordstrom now sells pre-dirtied jeans dubbed "Barracuda Straight Leg Jeans" for US$425. They are described as “heavily distressed medium-blue denim jeans in a comfortable straight-leg fit embody rugged, Americana workwear that's seen some hard-working action with a crackled, caked-on muddy coating that shows you're not afraid to get down and dirty.”

Mike Rowe, of Dirty Jobs fame, brought the jeans into the public eye with a Facebook post, complaining, "They’re a costume for wealthy people who see work as ironic — not iconic.”
Proof the war on #work conts #jeans look like theyve been worn by 1 w/a #dirtyjob made for ppl who don't @Nordstrom pic.twitter.com/ii8k2SOMHi

For slightly cheaper, you could get your hands on Topshop’s MOTO Clear Plastic Straight Leg Jeans. In what some consider to be a response to the 15 minutes of fame received by their recent “Clear Knee Mom Jeans”, Topshop released completely see through, plastic pants.
“CLEAR PLASTIC JEANS ARE YOU FEELING OKAY TOPSHOP?” asked one Twitter user.

Another wondered: “I have so many questions about Topshop's clear plastic 'jeans.’ Condensation? Chafing? Underwear? Pockets? Is this a sign I'm too old?”

Still, not all of the response was negative: “I like Topshop's clear plastic trousers. Bet they'd look great on tattooed legs.” (sul/kes)
