To keep chatting using the messaging app, users may want to update their WhatsApp app to the latest compatible version through the BlackBerry World app store installed on their phones.
Newer BlackBerry phones like Aurora and KEYone will not be affected, as they run Android instead of BlackBerry OS.
This is not the first time WhatsApp has extended its support for BlackBerry devices. Previously, WhatsApp stated that it would end its services for the BlackBerry smartphone by Dec. 31, 2016, but later extended the service to June 30.
In addition to BlackBerry, WhatsApp also extended its support for another old platform, the S40. (kes)
