wo years after the first installment of Kingsman was released, the spy film marks its return with Kingsman: The Golden Circle. Helmed by Matthew Vaughn, the movie based on the comic book entitled The Secret Service by Mark Millar and Dave Gibbons.
The film begins with agent Gary ‘Eggsy’ Unwin being attacked by Charles ‘Charlie’ Hesketh, a former candidate of Kingsman’s agent. Charlie, who now has a robotic hand that can be controlled from afar, successfully penetrate Kingsman’s system, resulting in explosions in some crucial places, including the agency’s headquarters.
Together with Merlin who survived the explosion, Eggsy travels to Kentucky to discover a spy organization called "Statesman", and in its headquarters, Eggsy reunited with Harry or agent Galahad, who was shot and presumed dead in the prequel. This time around, Harry has amnesia and no recollection about his secret agent job, which has Eggsy struggling to make Galahad remember.

In parallel, with the help from the Stateman’s agent Whiskey, Eggsy finds the connection between Charlie and the owner of drug cartel The Golden Circle, Poppy Adams. Described as malevolent but insane, Poppy wants the US President to legalize all drugs and rule over them by spreading toxic narcotics that are able to turn the users’ vein into blue and eventually kill them.
Kingsman: The Golden Circle maintains the wittiness that can be found on the prequel, successfully garnering laughs from the audience. Its action-packed scenes keep the audience on edge, especially interactions between Eggsy and Charlie.
Among the cast of Kingsman: The Golden Circle are Taron Egerton, Colin Firth, Pedro Pascal, Mark Strong, Julianne Moore, Halle Berry and Jeff Bridges. The star-studded cast supporting the movie indeed made Kingsman: The Golden Circle bigger compared to the first. But is bigger always better? Celebrated musician Elton John's cameo is a scene-stealer you don't want to miss. However, unlike Elton John, Hollywood heartthrob Channing Tatum seems to be underused in the movie, although his very convincing appearance in the beginning. (asw)
