‘Si Doel’ movie wraps up filming in the Netherlands

An movie adaptation of popular 1990s soap opera Si Doel Anak Sekolahan has completed filming in the Netherlands.

i Doel the Movie, a movie adaptation of the popular 1990s soap opera Si Doel Anak Sekolahan (Doel, the Schoolkid), has reportedly finished filming in the Netherlands.

Actress Maudy Koesnaedy, who will reprise the role of Doel's love interest, Zaenab, said the cast had returned to Indonesia, adding that she did not join the trip to the Netherlands.

Maudy said that only Cornelia Agatha, the actress that reprises the role of another of Doel's love interests, Sarah, went to the Netherlands.

Antara reports that Si Doel the Movie is set to premiere in August.

Written and directed by Rano Karno, who also starred as main protagonist Doel in the original TV show, the film will continue to follow the bizarre love triangle involving Doel, Zaenab and Sarah.

Si Doel Anak Sekolahan first aired in 1994. The soap opera lasted for seven seasons with a total of 162 episodes. (jes/asw)
