Easy tips for softer hands If you happen to find brown spots on your hands, do note that it is due to being exposed to the sun, not an age factor. (Shutterstock/File)

Many people tend to pay more attention to their face, making it the center of their skincare routine, compared to their hands.

However, they may worryingly discover later that the skin of their hands appears very dry, wrinkled and much older than their fresh, firmed face.

As reported by kompas.com, dermotologist Ranella Hirsch shares why your hands look that way and what steps you can take to circumvent it.

1. Age spots

If you happen to find brown spots on your hands, do note that it is due to being exposed to the sun, not an age factor.

To avoid growing such spots, make sure to always use sunscreen when you are doing activities outdoor for a long period of time.

2. Wrinkles

You can immediately notice when the skin of your hands is dry, wrinkled or slacking. What you can do about it is, just like treating your face, opt to use retinoid or retinol products to revitalize the texture of your skin.

3. Bulging veins

Such a condition is common as you get older. However, there is something you can do about it: use a face concealer, especially when you need to improve your appearance before a major event.

4. Scaly skin

If you happen to have this issue, you can try to make your hands more moist and stretchy by doing a similar skincare routine that you do to your face. Start by scrubbing it to lift dead skin cells, then use a special hand cream and finally wrap your hands with a plastic wrap or cotton gloves before you sleep. (kes)
