Police arrest Angeline murder suspect

Angeline, an 8-year-old girl whose dead body was found buried behind her foster mother'€™s home in Denpasar on Wednesday after being reported missing since May 16, was allegedly killed by a man named Agus who was once a domestic helper at the home.

Denpasar Police chief Sr. Comr. Anak Agung Made Sudana said Agus was one of seven people who were questioned after Angeline was found dead.

'€œBased on the questioning, Agus admitted using violence against the girl leading to her death,'€ he said in an interview with TVOne television station.

He added that Agus once worked as domestic helper at the house of Angeline'€™s foster mother, Margareth Megawe.

He said that according to Agus'€™ confession, he committed the murder at 1 p.m. central Indonesian time on May 16, on the same day she went missing. The suspect reportedly told police he then buried Angeline'€™s body behind Margareth'€™s house at 8 p.m.

Margareth subsequently dismissed Agus from her employ on May 18.

'€œHe was expelled from the house. He was dismissed because Margareth found the house dirty while many guests were in the house. He was scolded and expelled from the house,'€ he said. (rms)(++++)
