Angeline, an 8-year-old girl whose dead body was found buried behind her foster mother's home in Denpasar on Wednesday after being reported missing since May 16, was allegedly killed by a man named Agus who was once a domestic helper at the home.
Denpasar Police chief Sr. Comr. Anak Agung Made Sudana said Agus was one of seven people who were questioned after Angeline was found dead.
'Based on the questioning, Agus admitted using violence against the girl leading to her death,' he said in an interview with TVOne television station.
He added that Agus once worked as domestic helper at the house of Angeline's foster mother, Margareth Megawe.
He said that according to Agus' confession, he committed the murder at 1 p.m. central Indonesian time on May 16, on the same day she went missing. The suspect reportedly told police he then buried Angeline's body behind Margareth's house at 8 p.m.
Margareth subsequently dismissed Agus from her employ on May 18.
'He was expelled from the house. He was dismissed because Margareth found the house dirty while many guests were in the house. He was scolded and expelled from the house,' he said. (rms)(++++)
