Being a chef, let alone a cooking show host such as Yuda Bustara, can be a challenge when it comes to fasting.
"Well, the hunger is intensified because the food is always in front of you. But again, that's what a chef does," Yuda told The Jakarta Post on Thursday.
However, the 27-year-old chef also said that his experience abroad, such as when he was studying in Malaysia and working in the Crown Casino Hotel in Melbourne, Australia trained him to be tough during the fasting month.
"When I worked in Australia, there was no special break for breaking the fast during working hours. I could only have a glass of water for breaking fast and continue to work until I could eat at 9 p.m.," he said.
He also mentioned about the challenge for a chef tasting the food during fasting.
"What I learned is it really depends on the intention of the chef. If he wants to eat, he will swallow it. But if not, it is just tasting and nothing more," Yuda added.
The other challenge, the Asian Food Channel 'Urban Cook' cooking show host said, was to keep his temper during his time working with his people in the kitchen.
However, he said that there was no change of routine in his daily life when it came to the fasting month. (fsu)(++++)
