wo tourists from France and Switzerland died in a drunk-driving related accident in a Bali beach after running their motorcycle to beach rocks in a high speed on Saturday.

The victims are 23-year-old Emilie Martine Canet from France and Lovid Vincent Dominique Lazeyras (23) from Switzerland who died on the scene after the motorcycle they were riding hit rocks in Pererenan Beach in Mengwi subdistrict of Badung regency at 5 a.m. on Saturday.

Witnesses said the two victims were under the influence of alcohol when the accident took place, Mengwi Police chief Comr. I Nengah Patrem said on Saturday.

"The two of them were riding uncontrollably in Perenenan Beach area without knowing that the end of the road is directly heading to the beach. They fell and hit the rocks at the beach," he said as reported by Tribunnews.com.

Police questioned their two friends Marion Nierfeix and Alexis Nierfeix as witnesses with whom they stayed together at Villa Selebrity in Mengwi. The witnesses said the four of them drank alcohol at 2 a.m. on Saturday at the villa and at around 4:40 a.m. Canet and Lazeyras went out to buy another drink.

The victims suffered heavy injuries and died immediately on the scene. Their bodies had been taken to Sanglah hospital, Patrem added. (rin)
