resident Joko "Jokowi" Widodo and first lady Iriana have joined millions of Indonesians who are currently on mudik (Idul Fitri homecoming exodus).
The first family left Jakarta on Monday afternoon for Jokowi's hometown of Surakarta, Central Java, to celebrate the Idul Fitri festivities with relatives.
The President spent the first day of the auspicious occasion on Sunday in Jakarta, where he performed Idul Fitri prayers and then joined Vice President Jusuf Kalla in hosting a public open house at the State Palace in the afternoon.

Departing from Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base in East Jakarta, Jokowi and Iriana arrived at the Adi Soemarno Air Force Base in Boyolali, Central Java, at 12:05 p.m., according to Presidential Office’s press bureau head Bey Machmudin.
“They went straight to [Jokowi's] home in the Sumber area in Surakarta,” Bey said in a statement released on Monday.
The first family was also scheduled to visit the home of Jokowi's mother Sujiatmi Notomihardjo, which is located near his own residence.
Several officials accompanied the president's journey, including Presidential Military Secretary air vice marshall Trisno Hendradi, Presidential Security Detail (Paspampres) commander Brig. Gen. Suhartono and Presidential Secretariat Protocol Bureau head Ari Setiawan. (yon/bbs)
