Banks anticipate late loan payments as many of their customers will be involved in the extended Idul Fitri holiday.
State-owned lender Bank Negara Indonesia president director Achmad Baiquni said in Jakarta on Wednesday that the late payments would mostly involve its retail customers.
Meanwhile, payments from corporate customers would not be significantly affected by the holiday.
"Corporate customers usually prepare cash in advance but we are worried about individual customers," said Achmad while attending a meeting with the House of Representatives.
CIMB Niaga president director Tigor Marsahala Siahaan said late payments were common after a long holiday.
However, this year, he expected the impact to not be significant.
"We hope the impact is not as big as last year when the holiday ended later in the month. The timing is better this year," he said. (bbn)
