Soils from the landslide has blocked the road and caused inundation in several spots.
A landslide hit a housing complex in Pasar Rebo, East Jakarta, on Monday afternoon following hours of heavy rain.
National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) spokesman Sutopo Purwo Nugroho blamed the unstable soil for the landslide, which severely damaged the garage of a residential property.
“The soil from the landslide has blocked the road and caused inundation in several spots,” Sutopo said in a statement picked up by tribunnews.com.
Sutopo added that officials had been deployed to the scene to clear the area and prevent further trouble.
“We plan to deploy heavy equipment tomorrow to pick up trash clogging the water canal,” he said, urging residents to be vigilant as the rainfall intensity would increase in the next few days. (fac)
