disumarmo International Airport in Surakarta, Central Java, has been recognized as the country's healthiest airport by the health and transportation ministries.
The airport’s general manager, Abdullah Usman, told Antara news agency Tuesday that it underwent an assessment prior to topping the international airport category.
“This award shows that even a small airport like Adisumarmo can compete and have achievements in terms of improving services for our customers," said Abdullah.

Winners of the biennial award must meet specific requirements, including by implementing environmental health policies and infrastructure planning, as well as by providing a safe and healthy work environment and security area.
Sultan Syarif Kasim II Airport in Pekanbaru, Riau, and Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Tangerang, Banten, were named second and third place winners, respectively. (jes/kes)
