Malang regency in East Java is developing smart village system to its tourist villages.

The smart village system makes it easier for tourists to gain information about tourist villages in Malang from their Android smartphones that are connected to the Internet. The information includes facilities, services, tourist attractions, entrance fees, tickets selling and bookings and other, all of these are available in the app.

With this creative innovation, the tourism ministry has decided to include Boon Pring Andeman Ecotourism app in one of its 30 pilot projects.

“The more use of digital technology, the more we can use different kinds of applications and digital tools to get in touch with every customer. We are able to know about the demography, psychography and their individual behavior,” told tourism minister Arief Yahya.

“Now there is this term called ‘always-connected travelers,’ meaning that travelers are always connected through their smartphones and applications, if we don't adapt we will eventually die. This smart village is a solution for innovation,” Arief added. (asw)
