Batik Air to fly new Jakarta-Belitung route starting Friday

Lion Air Group’s Batik Air will open on March 29 a new route from Jakarta to Belitung in the Bangka Belitung Islands province.

atik Air, the full-service subsidiary of Indonesia's largest low-cost carrier, Lion Air, will open on March 29 a new route from Jakarta to Belitung in the Bangka Belitung Islands province.

Batik Air will fly the Airbus A320 CEO and Boeing 737-800NG aircraft on the new route.

The daily flight will depart Soekarno-Hatta International Airport at 6:45 a.m. and arrive at HAS Hanandjoeddin International Airport at 7:40 a.m., while the return leg from Belitung will depart at 8:35 a.m. and arrive in Jakarta at 9:25 a.m.

In conjunction with the launch of the new route, Batik Air is offering special fares starting from Rp 450,000 (US$32.83).

Batik Air CEO Capt. Achmad Lutfhie said in a press release that the new route was part of the airline's commitment to increase the number of tourists to the destinations of the "10 New Balis" national tourism campaign.

Achmad expressed his hope that the Jakarta-Belitung route would serve passengers traveling to and from the island while helping to improve air travel through a smoother flow of logistics.

Also on March 29, Batik Air will open new routes from Jakarta to Palangkaraya in Central Kalimantan and to Merauke, Papua, as well as from Surabaya, East Java, to Denpasar, Bali. (jes/kes)
