arious charitable acts to help those hit by the COVID-19 outbreak continue across the country. One such act was carried out by the employees of PT Bank BNI Tbk –calling themselves BNI Hi-Movers- who donated a percentage of their holiday bonuses (THR).
The donation was handed to the BUMN Hadir Untuk Negeri (State-owned Enterprises Present for the Nation) Foundation.
Head of the BNI’s workers union, who is also deputy chief of the COVID-19 mitigation fund management team, Irfan Ferdiansyah, said that as an act of compassion and a form of COVID-19 mitigation effort in Indonesia, BNI and its employees had raised funds to help curb the impact of the pandemic across the archipelago.
“BNI and its employees, as well as its workers union, will hand over a Rp 10 billion [US$ 707,158] to the BUMN Hadir Untuk Negeri Foundation for the provision of medical equipment in Banten, Yogyakarta, North Sumatra and South Sulawesi,” said Irfan during the handover ceremony at Gedung Grha BNI in Jakarta on Monday.
The donation, according to Irfan, portrayed the spirit of collaboration between BNI, the State-owned Enterprises Ministry and BUMN Hadir Untuk Negeri Foundation.
“We hope that this donation will be used in the best way possible,” said Irfan.
On the same occasion, the acting head of BUMN Hadir Untuk Negeri Foundation, Harjawan Balanigrath, said four more areas would be given aid in the form of medical equipment, personal protective equipment (PPE) and rapid test kits.
“We will do the best possible and be as transparent as we can in utilizing the funds that were trusted to the BUMN Hadir Untuk Negeri Foundation to be distributed to areas and communities in need,” he said.
Furthermore, according to Harjawan, a fraction of the funds from the donation will be used to finance mobile PCR products created by the Greater Jakarta Transportation Body (BPTJ). At this moment, the products are being put to use.
“[The products] are being used for admitting patients, running simulations and sending out results. They will be operated among the communities. Thank you very much BNI for financing this creation by Indonesian citizens,” said Harjawan.
